Ultimate Wellness Through Naturopathic Medicine And Acupuncture Presentation At North Las Vegas Veterans And Community Resource Center

On Monday October 2, 2023, Las Vegas Integrative Medicine gave a special presentation on the topic of “Ultimate Wellness through Naturopathic Medicine and Acupuncture” at North Las Vegas Veterans and Community Resource Center located at 3090 East Centennial Parkway, North Las Vegas, NV 89081. The presenter at this event was Dr. Yoojin Lee-Sedera, the Medical Director of LV Integrative Medicine, the largest alternative medicine provider in Southern Nevada. The goal of this community event is to educate both veterans and members of the public when it comes to how to best achieve your health and wellness goals through Naturopathic Medicine and Acupuncture.

Dr. Lee-Sedera started the conversation by sharing her clinic’s approach to wellness which includes:

  • Discover & understand underlying health issues
  • Design a personalized blueprint
  • Address underlying health issues by implementing the blueprint
  • Balance organ systems with nutrition & lifestyle change
  • Achieve your optimal health inside out.

“The true investment to your health is to stay healthy so you can do what you want to do with your lives,” said Dr. Lee Sedera. “The bottom line is you can’t perform unless you are healthy. It’s not just increasing the number of years you live; it’s about improving the quality of life now matter how long you have left, by improving your health”.

Dr. Lee-Sedera also explained to the attendees how her practice blends evidence-based Naturopathic Medicine with traditional Chinese or Oriental medicine that have been proven by thousands of years of history. Among the care offered by Las Vegas Integrative Medicine is acupuncture which can treat patients with many ailments including chronic pain, digestion issues, hormone imbalance and anxiety.

One of the people who attended the workshop was Jessica Gonzalez-Evans who served in the US Navy for 21 years. She said after she left the service, she started using and relying on antidepressant medications. But when her doctor referred her to try acupuncture, that need for the medications eventually went away.

“When I started doing acupuncture, that finally helped me relieve the anxiety I was having,” said Gonzalez-Evans. “It gave me a lot of hope knowing I don’t need to put chemicals into my body to solve my problems”.

Another attendee at this presentation was Christina Thomas who is the President & Founder of the Veteran Advocacy Council Community Development Coalition in Nevada. She said she was very impressed with Dr. Lee-Sedera’s work with patients and wanted to help spread the word of why Naturopathic care worked for her and many other patients, including her fellow veterans.

“I am a research patient and advocate for patients and caregivers and I have seen how Naturopathic medicine was the solution to my healing and for so many others,” said Thomas. “It’s our human right to have this type of care and a matter of public safety”.

Dr. Lee-Sedera said her team is dedicated to the notion that lifestyle medicine is the key to health and longevity. But she stresses that patients should not just rely on her and other doctors. They have to be an advocate for their own health.

“We ask a lot of questions to find out about the person; the communication is very important being on the same page between the doctor and the patient, otherwise we can’t help them,” said Dr. Lee-Sedera. “At the end of the day it comes to these 3 C’s for my patient’s success: Commitment, compliance, communication. Nothing will change overnight so you have to be first committed to the process, and you have to be ready to make changes, or you won’t see the sustaining results”.
